I met Ryan J. Cassidy last month in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do. Over lunch with his wife and their two kids, we talked about all things pansori. Ryan is one of the few non-Koreans I know of that perform pansori and I met him a while ago at a pansori contest in Seoul (my review in Korean and English). I hope you enjoy the interview that I did for the Jeonju Sori Festival’s blog (in Korean) which was published today.
Talking about interviews, I got asked some questions myself recently. First, I talked about my interests about pansori for the German section of KBS World. A recording (in German) can be found here.
Also, I was featured in the Sori Festival’s newsletter, likewise about pansori and a recent trip to Jeonju. You can find the (Korean) interview—and a wicked picture of me in front of Sin Jae-hyo’s House in Gochang (신재효의 고댁) here.
Have fun reading—any questions are welcome!
